Crafting

Currently [17.12.2012] you can craft various in-game items, like armor and weapons, including axes, beds, boats, boots, bows [and arrows], buckets, chestplates, clocks, doors, fishing rods, glass bottles, helmets, item frames, leggings, minecarts, shears, signs, sticks, swords, torches [including redstone torches] and tripwire hooks, to name but a few.

Smelting

Currently [17.12.2012] you can smelt or cook chicken, fish, pork chops, potato and steak, to name but a few.

Brewing

Currently [17.12.2012] you can brew various Potions and Splash Potions, including the awkward, mundane and thick potions, to name but a few.

Skinable Characters

Registered players can skin their characters.

Skins are available free-of-charge from Minecraft Downloads, Minecraft Skin Search, Planet Minecraft and The Skindex; or you can your very own with Nova Skin or Skincraft.

You can upload and apply your skin to your Minecraft profile at http://minecraft.net/profile

Modifications

Being so popular, Minecraft inspired a lot of modifications, including Minecraft DOTA ^[2], Minecraft Middle-Earth ^[2] and The Survival Games ^[2].

MCPatcher

MCPatcher is a bytecode-level patcher, that currently 'upgrades' Minecraft to High Definition (HD).
